I haven't seen this up yet, but it appears another crony of the Presidon't has stepped down. Besides the obvious good news of another unqualified chum stepping down, in a crisis, thousands upon thousands of lives would depend on his decisions.
He is Stewart Simonson, the Assistant Secretary for Public Health Emergency Preparedness at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services., and a backer of Project Bioshield.
A few tidbits I noticed on the flip...
For example, the Project Bioshield website linked above has roughly zero updates since the ballyhooed signing back in 2004. That's right - zilch, nada.
Please to note that he deviates from the standard Repubrigand resigning point of "more time with my family".
Stewart Simonson, assistant secretary for public health emergency preparedness, told the president in a resignation letter Monday that he had accomplished what he had set out to do, and it was time to move on.
In classic Bushie style, in his two years in a critical position, his Project Bioshield accomplishes nothing and he still has the balls to say he "accomplished what he had set out to do." I think it's the demeaning
"what do you care, plebe? bwahahaha" tone that these dickfaces use when they think we won't smell their bullshit that I love the most. Sweet, sweet condescension.
Maybe Simonson wanted to avoid a Brownie-like moment when the bird flu hits. I doubt it. I think it would probably go down more like this:
Some Democrats, and a key Republican, Rep. Tom Davis of Virginia, had been critical of Simonson's work, saying it would be better to have a medical expert serve in his position rather than a lawyer. Davis is chairman of the
House Government Reform Committee.
I'm sure the Presidon't didn't want to have Davis pissed at him, lest he do his job in any non-partisan manner honest to "the rule of law."
Let's hope they actually listen to Rep. Davis instead of simply appease him.
